BELAZ LAUNCHES THE WORLD’S BIGGEST CAPACITY MINING DUMP TRUCK: THE 75710, 450 METRIC TON

by Apeg, September 25, 2013

On 24 September 2013, the mining industry was shaken to its core! The Belarusian company, BELAZ, launched the biggest dump truck in the world, the mighty 75710, also known as the “450”.

Standing three storeys high and with a payload capacity of 450 metric tons, the 450 outstrips anything else currently available in the world.

Utilising cutting edge technology, the 450 uses two four-cycle diesel engines to produce a maximum speed of 64km/h at 1500rpm torque. The 450 can maintain a speed of 40km/h, fully laden on a 10% gradient.

The 450 has an electromechanical transmission, with an AC electric drive Siemens MMT500. With two traction alternators, four traction electric motors and motor-wheel reduction gears.

Built Australian mine ready, the 450 matches its 64km/h top speed with high performance braking that meets ISO 3450 standards.

Innovative design means the 450 achieves a 25% increase in performance over the current largest dump truck. It has eight wheels, two turntable axles and a turning radius of less than 20m. When carrying loads less than its maximum capacity, the 450 uses just one of its two engines.

Designed to function within the specifications of the BELAZ 360 metric ton dump truck, the 450 can be operated by drivers with 360 qualifications.

The 450 is now being field tested in one of the harshest mining conditions in the world, at Bachatsky open pit coal mine in Siberia. It will be available on the market in 24 months’ time.
